Breeder prospect Questionnaire — Faith Valley Australian Shepherds

Below is our questionnaire designed for buyers that have interest in a puppy with full rights. Please keep in mind, full registration is not given lightly as we as breeders who have worked hard to produce our pups and their health/bloodlines are entrusting someone new to continue the same.

The fulfillment of this questionnaire alone will not grant you full rights, They are given only to homes I Personally approve of and/or proven breeders. I require conversation and contacting me Before filling it out, inquiring you are looking for a breeding prospect first is best. Reason being, if filled out first, answers will get lost and I wont know who they belong to. Most often I will send this link to fill out once we have discussed what all your looking into. If you are unsure about any of the questions below never hesitate to ask, learning and soaking up new knowledge is the best thing to do when getting into breeding!

1) To begin may I ask if you’ve ever bred dogs in the past or present? Does not have to be aussies but do you have any experience in the area? (Please explain your answer)

2) Breeding is a big responsibility and job that takes up a lot of time and effort to do it correctly, do you have the means for breeding? (Please explain)

3) It can be expensive, are you aware of the expense level breeding can reach, and are you prepared to handle such?

4) When breeding, it is very important your dogs are kept up to date with all vaccines, deworming, vet checks, and proper care. Are you willing to always keep up with everything needed?

5) All your of age breeding dogs should be fully health tested, to result in healthy well bred puppies with health guarantees, are you aware of this and prepared to test?

6) Do you plan on testing through a reliable source such as paw print genetics or similar?

7) Aussies even when breeding should be cared for as any other pet would, given proper grooming, and safe place to live and sleep, are you willing to do so?

8) Puppies are messy, a lot to handle and will need a lot of care when growing. Are you prepared or have plans for proper whelping boxes/pens and place to grow up?

9) Are you planning on having puppies on a hardy diet with proper nutrients?

10) Are you aware all young puppies need vaccinations no later than 6-7 weeks old to prevent easily transmitted diseases, and puppies must be kept in a reliable environment before hand to keep safe before vaccines are administered. Are you prepared to get the litter their immunizations when applicable?

11) Puppies also need deworming to prevent against easily transmitted worms at 2 weeks and up, are you aware of this and ready to keep up with such?

12) When breeding a female you should never breed her in her first nor second estrus(heat) cycle as her reproductive system is not yet fully matured. Are you prepared to keep her from breeding until ready and willing to wait?

13) When breeding a male breeding should be avoided until 18 months of age and up, are you willing to wait until he is of age?

14) When having a litter are you aware of the registration process to register a litter and how to offer full or limited rights?

15) As a breeder it’s important to me for my puppies and any of their future puppies to only ever get proper and secure homes. Are you willing to turn down homes that are not willing to provide proper care and only sell full rights to approved homes with all means for breeding?

16) Are you planning on owning both your male and female or planning to own one and look for outside studs/dams?

17) Whether both, or just one are you willing to take the time to find suitable matches for your Aussie with proper testing, registration and disposition owning up to the breed standard?

18) Are your aussies, pet or breeding dogs kept inside or outside?

19) Last but not least please tell me a bit about yourself, your existing or future breeding program and any other info you’d like to add!
